Northeast Florida Kayak Fishing

Welcome!
Kayak fishing -- More and more anglers are discovering the special joys and challenges of fishing the quiet, "skinny" waters of our local salt marsh creeks and river inlets.   Not only is kayak fishing a healthy, fun activity, but you can also sneak up on your favorite fish in shallow, out of the way spots not easily accessed by motorized craft.  Whether you are just starting out or have been fishing all your life, there is always something new you can learn to add more fun to your fishing experience and help you put more fish on the end of your line.

A couple of good resources to help you get started include Captain Ken Daubert's book, Kayak Fishing: The Revolution, and a book from Scott Null and Joel McBride entitled, The Ultimate Guide to Kayak Fishing.  Both are great references for anyone who goes kayak fishing, whether you are an old salt or a first timer.  You can also visit the online bookstore for more helpful books and DVDs on the subjects of kayaks and how to catch local gamefish.

At neflkayakfishing.com, my goal is to share premium sources of local kayak fishing information with fellow kayakers in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, while also promoting safe boating and responsible stewardship of our fisheries and waterways. By sharing information, all of us become better kayak anglers, and I welcome your input. If you know of a great spot in the area to go kayak fishing or have some helpful suggestions for improving the web site, please drop me a line. E-mail:

What’s Inside? Since you landed here, you probably already go kayak fishing, or you are considering it. The vast majority of information here relates to inshore fishing on many of the salt marsh creeks that crisscross the area. Some of the topics you will find here include:

Blog – a collection (web log) of my own ideas and articles regarding kayaks and fishing, as well as stories from others and links to helpful web sites.

Fishing Spots – Having the kayak and the gear is only the beginning. Where are you going to launch and find those fish? Visit this page for some local launch sites and fishin' holes.

Gear & Gadgets – Some essential (and not-so-essential) items to take along for a safer, more productive and enjoyable fishing trip in your kayak. Shop online to find the kayaks, gear, tackle, clothing and more you'll need to land your next trophy sized fish.

Have you tried the new Fishbites Xtreme Scent Release Lures?
Thanks to the nice folks at Fishbites (Carr Specialty Baits, Inc.) in St. Augustine, Florida, I recently had the opportunity to try out the latest in synthetic natural baits. Their newest product, "xtreme scent release lures," are shaped like natural baits. The fishing had been pretty slow lately, and I was ready to try something new. Armed with all three saltwater versions, I loaded up my kayak and ventured out to a local saltmarsh creek to do a little fishing and see how these new baits performed. << MORE >>
